Had a solid day of fishing on sunday, mild temps with a breeze most of the morning. My cousin caught a fat 4 lb bass. At first glance we thought it was a female full of eggs until John unhooked it. Inside its mouth, sticking out of the gullet was the fin of a smaller bass, maybe 8 inches.
Question: Does this indicate anything about the availability of forage or was the hapless bass merely in the wrong place at the right time?

Joe, it may or may not mean anything about the forage base. All game fish are opportunity feeders. Cannibalism suggests some degree of humanity. The animal world doesn't recognize the concept.
