FriskyBob,
I run a well 24/7 also to my 1/10th acre trout pond from May to September only. My bill is about $100.00 per month, but I can eqasily sell two fish for that amount and enjoy harvest by hook and line! (See my website)Nothing like enjoying fishing and getting paid for it!
My well pump is rated at 45 gpm but I have a guage I mounted inline that says it more like 38 gpms. I took over 500 lbs of rainbows, brown, and brooks out of the pond last year before I drained and refilled. Four of the brooks would have broken the state record (biggest at 5 lbs. 2 oz and 22 inches), and I had several browns over 10 lbs. Biggest brown was almost 12 lbs. and biggest rainbow was 6 lbs. 12 oz.
Where did you get your brooks and what strain are they? I got my latest bunch from and the Red Cliff tribal hatchery north of Bayfield Wisconsin. They are Lake Nipigon strain brooks. Sure hope they grow as fast as my last source that was more domestic.
