I have a newly constructed pond in coastal South Carolina and am looking for the right groundcover for the banks. The soil is mostly sand/loam and well drained. I desire the following characteristics:
Good erosion control
Low maintenance
Forage for wildlife
Aesthetic
Anyone have any suggestions?

farm supply store, not Lowe's/home depot. rye grass to stabilize followed in about a month or so with Pensicola bahia or the appropriate pasture grass suited for your area, the store will know and give good advice about coverage/watering

I have spoken with "the old guy" at the farm store the other day. He reccommended Weeping Lovegrass. Anyone have any experience with this?
