Curious to see who has any ice left on their ponds. Had 16 inches 4 weeks ago NW Ohio, and only a few cubes left as of 3-2-04. Ponds mixing very well with these temperature swings. Spring is getting closer by the day !!Have lots of cold water algae in the higher nutrient ponds.Ted

Ice is still thickening here. I stopped measuring a month ago at 37". Three more months and I can pull the boat out. \:\)

I have only had ice across the pond twice this winter wasn't even thick enough to walk on! I checked the weather data and we have gotten above freezing every day this winter, went back several years and could not find another winter that got above freezing every day. The bass are starting to cruise the shallows has been in the 60's for the last week.

I have slush ice about a inch or two thick floating in the ponds with lots of open water. It's supposed to stay above freezing even at night here until Friday and we may get a good amount of rain Thursday. I would say any ice left by Thursday on my ponds will be gone by the end of the day. Temps have been in the 50's for highs.

However this is on small ponds. I wouldn't be surprised if folks are still icefishing on the larger natural lakes.

I too have some filatmentous algae in a few places on the bottom of my trout pond. Probably from nutrients from the excess fish feed.

I did not run the diffuser much this winter in the warmwater pond. Just kept snow off the ice and ran the diffuser on the edge of the pond briefly to open up some water when temps were above freezing which didn't happen much this winter.

Ice is all gone in the .62 acre warmwater pond today! The trout pond which is more shaded and out of the wind has a small thin island of slush floating back and forth.

I did net two floating largemouths in the warmwater pond. I think they have been dead for quite some time as they were decomposing and covered with fungus. Hopefully not anthing to do with this winter. One was about 3 1/2 pounds and the other was about a pound. If that's all I find I won't worry!

15 inches and suspicious quality in eastern South Dakota. The last couple of moisture events have been rain rather than snow, and it's going fast.

I'm near St. Louis, and my 5 acre lake has been ice free for 2 weeks now. Went fishing last week and this week almost everyday. Caught 2 fat 3 pounders and several dinks. Also the b-gill are cruising the shallows on the sunny days, even got a few to take some feed.Water temp. is in the low 50's.....Looking good here ;\)

Still about 4 inches of ice here in Edinboro, Pa. But open water near the edges is starting to expand. As always, I got the green filatmentous algae that I'll have to take care of in the spring with the chems. Also, some stubborn coontail.

Between 20-30" inches still here in Ottawa... a warm spell this week sees about an inch of water on top.
