no need to over complicate things...these traps work fantastic and have been in use for 100's of years http://www.memphisnet.net/product/2755/traps-fish-woodJust copy the design with whatever materials you wish to use. I'd wager more than half the catfish caught in these traps aren't there to eat but rather to seek sanctuary.
