Ok. so I bought these for two of my tractors this time last year, and they have been great. The sound is great, and I like that it has Bluetooth because my guys can't say that they didn't hear me call. The fan has three settings and will keep even the most persistent mosquito or sweat bee off of you. It has 12 volt charging port and LED work lights. The guys that make it live in my hometown, and can build anything. They build all kinds of things including the tractor canopy, atv's speakers, racks, fans.
With all the bells and whistles like mine it's 1290.00. But they will make them with or without fan, or sound system. They are real nice people if you have questions give them a call.
Maybe this thread helps illustrate the point concerning tier 4 and tractor usage in the other thread. That device is cool, but there's no way I spend enough time in the seat to warrant it's purchase. Perhaps that hints at the difference between homeowner usage vs. Commercial or farm.

For those of you on a tighter budget...call it what you will, maybe HillBilly Bling. See attachment. It's not really loud enough to enjoy over the tractor, but my intent was to have some music while the tractor is not running and I am clearing brush or whatever on the ground. It uses my phone as a player and will broadcast the ring over the loud speaking when I get a call. It carries incredibly well, my neighbor can hear me a 1/4 mile away even when it's not at full blast.
This is the "No Fan" option, but the available 410 scabbard option is pretty handy for the snakes. Sound system cost me about $50 and a few hours of assembly. It is held on by velcro straps and is taken off when the tractor is working hard.
I can't think of anything I've bought recently (other than maybe the farm equipment that actually makes a living) that warrants its purchase.
At my stage in life it is more would I like it? Do I want it? Can I afford it? Done. Edit: thought I better add "at least within reasonable limitations".
Otherwise it is just about leaving an imheritance my kids can waste. Might as well waste a little of it on myself and give somebody a job making it.
But as long as a person is raising a family, I realize justification takes a different form.
Yeah I don't turn loose of money easily. It's much easier if the purchase will earn it's keep, so to speak, but buying something for myself just because I want it, is a pretty hard sell.

Sprkplug I was just like you and with a couple of exceptions was very frugal the first 45 years of my life. Heck, we did not even have a color TV the first several years when the kids were small. 12" B&W. It did not make money and we worked so hard didn't have time to watch it if we would have had a nice one. We worked hard, saved and invested both in the farm and even off farm with retirement savings.
We saved back then so we could do what we wanted now. That is a foreign concept in todays world where modern economists tell us saving is bad, we need to spend, spend, spend to get the economy going. (I don't believe them, by the way, but will admit to doing my part anyway ).
I never went to college but as part of my continuing education used to read a lot of books. One I read (out loud to my wife) early on that we took to heart had the messages of paying yourself first and saving 10% of your income and learning to live on the 90% left. We pretty much did that (started maxing IRA's as soon as they were made available in early 70's) and I credit that and hard work early on being the reason we are able to travel and enjoy many things now. I don't feel a bit guilty for spending it. The ones my age that spent everything they made and even more, when we were doing without and saving for later, already had their rewards. We're taking ours now.
It isn't just the money, it's the time. I don't have my butt in a tractor seat long enough to warrant the purchase. And while I do like the fan, I don't want anything keeping me from hearing what the equipment is saying. No radio, no headphones, no earbuds. There's the issue of safety, the need to use one's ears to detect problems early, and to be honest, the enjoyment of listening to the machine work. Might need to be a mechanic to understand that last one though.
