Hey guys, I'm feeding once a day right about dusk. They come and gobble it up, but I have no way of knowing which type of fish are feeding. I also have a hard time of getting the pellets out very far from the bank, so....

I'm considering feeding them from my petal boat and when they come to feed, scoop them up with a net to see what's feeding.

Is this a bad idea? I don't want to frighten them or scare them bad enough they won't come feed. I'm just curious.

Try feeding at noon and see what you can see. A scoop will help you get the food out further.

Thanks Ewest, worked like a charm, now I have new problem.

I discovered it was BG feeding. They eat all I throw to them. Will follow me around to wherever I walk.

Now then, here's something else I need help with. My CC doesn't come up to feed. What can I do? I want to throw the feed to fatten them up asap, but not sure how to go about it. What type of habitat do CC like? I haven't seen hide or hair of them since I put them in. Maybe they don't like the Cargill feed? I would be happy to provide them food/shelter if I knew what to do. I thought about sinking pellets, but don't want my water quality to suffer. Any suggestions?

Wife and I walked down to tank early this morning. Fish heard us and begin to kiss the surface. Went and grabbed a can of food and dropped a few morsels and they grabbed and devoured it. My wife got a real good look and said they are fat as mud balls. She said she can see white around the edge of dorsal and tail fin. She said it looks like some outlined them in white. Is that normal?

farmallsc,
If you have an iphone (or other smart phone), put the camera setting on slo-mo. I throw a handful of pellets a few feet from the dock and film a little video up close. It's amazing the clarity watching the fish come up and hit the feed. Send me a PM with your email address on it and I'll forward you a little video of what I'm talking about.
