Hi, New here but was told this the place to be for info. on ponds. So, I purchased 2.6 acres and I want to construct a pond and use a lot of the soil as a base for my new home. Anyway, my water well is located on the back of my property and I was wondering just how close/far should I be from my water well? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You may want to check out if there any local rules on that to protect the well from infiltration.

+1 I'd check with your county health department before digging. Last thing you want is for them to condemn the well after you dig the pond.

My county regulates the required distance. I think it was 50'. Then septic is 75' from standing water, 50' from the septic tank, and 100' from the septic field (50' if pressure cemented well). Just things to consider.

With all that, Will a county extension officer come out to advise on it if needed?
