I was wondering if anyone knows of an efficient way to prepare small bluegill. Catching bluegill to keep my pond in balance is lots o fun, but I really hate wasting fish. Does anyone know of a good way to prepare small bluegill (ones that are too small to fillet practically)? I heard that you could clean/scale them and put them in some type of meat grinder and eat the patties (bones and all). Anyone else have any experience with this?

I have heard of gutting them and deep frying them. Don't remember if they were scaled. But was told if they are small enough the bones are not a problem.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Bluegill have an excellent taste. The problem, especially the small ones, is that there are a lot of bones. And yes the bones will hurt you. They are my favorite fish to eat. I cannot imagine anyone throwing them away. Scale em, gut em, and fry em up.
