I was thinking something along the same line for my pond and looked at
www.seedland.com and looked at the diferent grass seeds. It looks like several varieties will only grow up to a few inches if not mowed. I know bahia, my native grass will only grow about six inches plus the stalkes will add another foot. Why worry about it? Plant a grass that will provide good cover and never bother with mowing. I'm not.
