I have bought many billboard tarps, and all of them have at least small holes in them. Some are better than others. So, they might slow down a really bad leak in a pond, but would think that for the trouble of install, it would be better to go with something else. Perhaps two or three layers of them? I don't know how regular liners work, but wouldn't dirt just slide down the vinyl surface exposing it. Seems like the dirt doesn't have anything to knit to.

It is not. I do not have much room to make it wider, to make less of a slope on the pond walls. My stock tank is 2ft deep as well. I have heard that somewhere else about the billboard tarps having pin holes in them.
