What makes me nervous about xray's new pond is I don't see a sheepsfoot roller on site for best soil compaction even with good available clay. Layers of clay spread out and just compacted with weight does not have the layers knitted together as with a sheepsfoot and water tends to seek an exit between the layered sheets (lifts) of clay. If the pond has some small leaks and does not stay full, this will probably by why.
