Alright my friends, I'm humbly asking for your help. And since you guys are the smartest bunch I know, I'm confident the solution to my dilemma is close at hand.

My new job comes with a lot of baggage...as in physical, tangible stuff I need to carry around everyday. I wear company provided shirts, nice ones even, and BDU pants. My problem is my waist, and all the paraphernalia that surrounds it. I carry a two way radio, cellphone holster, flashlight, an ungodly large key ring with an expanding key count, and an elevator drop key, all hooked to my belt. And this stuff is heavy. And my lack of any discernible butt isn't helping. Appearance is important, and I'm getting tired of struggling to keep my shirttail tucked in, and my pants up. I already have my belt cinched up to the point of intestinal distress, but keep hitching my britches.

I'm considering suspenders, but need a belt to carry my gear. And besides, I was taught that wearing a belt AND suspenders together was a fashion no-no. Still true?? I'm currently looking at military, tactical, police and firefighter gear, hoping to stumble across something or some system that will look good, and work even better.

Anyone have any ideas?

Belt suspenders....Duluth Trading has some nice ones.

Tony, I worked in suspenders(bunker pants) for most of my entire career, and I'd go with leather. They don't bounce when moving, don't stretch if the load is increased, and last for years.

Technically, loads should be carried by a person's hips, but not all of us are able to comfortably do that. A good pair of suspenders will almost turn your tool belt into part of a harness, and make the load more stable.

Duluth does have a nice pair.

Good pair of overalls is hard to beat...... I got the same problem.... No -ss atol.... Can still have company shirt and tool belt no more hitching up your drawers and very comfortable

The obvious answer is for you to get a copy of the video workout called "buns of steel."

Then you could carry anything you want; Or you could get suspenders.

Your choice.

Brian, as tempting as that vid sounds, I fear that even the world's best baker can't make unleavened bread rise.... there's just nothing there to work with in the first place.

Tony, Have you thought about a fanny pack? You could carry a multitude of items in addition to what you are lugging around now...Maybe some snacks? How about some baling wire,duct tape,PB Blaster,or even a small hammer.You know that the majority of mechanical issues can be remedied with these items.I have seen some photos of you in the PB archives wearing some trend setting fishing fashion ensembles!Please keep us updated on the current campus fashion trends.

Roll around toolcase with wheels and colapsing handle fashioned like a carry on suitcase for air travel.

Your back and feet will thank you ten years from now. We are not designed to stand up well physically as pack mules.

No matter what you choose I think it starts with a good, stiff belt, a steel core is an option. Here's a couple that I have and highly recommend. These are made to carry weight. Good luck.
