I have nothing to do with pond boss, but I'd guess a survey would measure and quantify whatever is relevant to your priorities, rather than being a 'routine' set of criterion.
The size, area, depth, soil types and influences, water quality testing, plant diversity, insect diversity, aquatic species, opportunities and threats, environmental assistance available could be some aspects an experienced ponder would be likely to accurately assess for you
