I guess maybe all my fish come in when the feeder goes off. I posted earlier that I thought the ones at the other end didn't know I had a feeder, but after seeing all these recent posts, I guess they all come in. I caught a very nice (for only being in the pond for a year) SMB a few days ago at the opposite end of the pond. He was very solid. Squirted all over me when I released him. Only way to know if he's going up to the other end for the feeder is to keep him, and I'm not planning on keeping any for a while. As far as HSB go, I haven't caught one yet, and I can't tell if they are active at the feeder. I think I'm underfeeding my fish a bit, because I can just about throw down food Any time, and it gets hit pretty hard. Not like when the feeder goes off, but maybe 50%. When it does go off the feed is gone in seconds.
9 yr old pond, 1 ac, 15' deep. RES, YP, GS, FHM (no longer), HBG (going away), SMB, and HSB (only one seen in 5 yrs) Restocked HSB (2020) Have seen one of these. I think that's about all I should put in my little pond. Otter attack in 2023
