I have a nearly 2 acres pond stocked with 2000 copper nose bream and 6000 fat head minnows in Jan 2012 and 120 tiger bass in June of 2012. Well 4 years later it is nearly impossible to get a bass bite out of it. Millions of small bream and plea to around a pound. Biggest bass we have caught is about 5 pounds but you might catch 1 every couple days in an hour of fishing. I have kept a few bream and maybe 20 bass. Should I keep more bream?

Are you seeing bass when you go around the pond or very few?

How often do you/have you fish(ed) it? Fish wise up pretty quick in smaller ponds.

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

You hardly ever see one when you walk around the pond but they explode on the bream at the feeder. It's gets fished here and there but not a ton. Probably 3 hours a week total.

I'm about a year behind you and have the same concern.

At spawning time LMB could be caught reasonably easily. But the rest of the year they are hard to come by. But same as you, BG everywhere.

I think water temps can effect your bass fishing this time of the year. I have seen lmb bite slow down in the summer heat, they will also change their pattern in this heat and that will also effect the fishing/catching in this heat. Or could be hook shy with a lot of catch and release or your lmb numbers could be low. If it was my pond, and its not, I would do a shock survey to see the lmb numbers. Adjusting the numbers of lmb could affect the catch rates. I read somewhere (here I think) where lmb numbers were added to the pond and it increased the bite through more competitive feeding by the lmb. I think they were Tigers also.
