I just had a 2 acre pond dug in Jan. and finished stocking in April. As it was filling a fellow pond owner gave me a spill pipe cover constructed of 2 peices of corrugated metal shaped into a tube that fit over my pipe and rises above the surface 1 1/2 feet to keep debris out. He told me that it helps mix the oxygenated water with the non. It is about 5 feet long so it actually only goes about 4 feet below the surface even though it is about 12-14 feet from the pipes elbow down deep to the surface of the water. Now he says I might need a longer cover to mix the water from even deeper. Is this necessary and if so what's the best material to use to make this cover?
