Pond Boss Forums POND CONSTRUCTION Renovating a Pond or Lake? No Drain pipe

Hi,

As you may have heard, we have had a lot of rain in Texas lately!. I have a small 1/3 ac pond that was build prior to me buying the property, unfortunately it doesn't have a drain pipe of any sorts. Multiple times this year, the pond has been gushing on one side ("emergency spillway!") and to the back of the property. I'm afraid this will could cause erosion as there is really nothing there to stop it, other than grass!. Is there a safe way to add a drain pipe after the fact?. Maybe I can take some water out before big rain events, but it's just hard to know how much and I don't live in the property!.. Any ideas will be appreciative..

Jose - Do you have a slope off to the side of the pond that you could use a siphon? You only have to excavate minimally for the siphon if there is enough grade and it can pull a lot of water for the size pipe. Search siphons on PB here to find more info. I am very happy with my siphon in our small pond.

I'll take a look at the siphon designs. Maybe I can put on the same side as the spillway... There is a small grade there, need to see if is enough...
