No chemicals. No cleaning it. And I don't really even care if they pee in it. Game called due to rain but I got the frame built, floats on, flipped over and some deck boards laid on top. Plan to screw down the deck and put the ladder on tomorrow. Just saw they're calling for a hot dry summer for this area. Bring it! The first couple years I owned this property I would leave sweaty, bloody, caked in dirt all summer long. This year... Going for a dip is going to seem like heaven!

looks like an infinity pool Didn't think of that... But you're right. Dealing with some pretty steep terrain. Where the ponds are its relatively level, for a short distance, at least...

How did you secure the floats to the lumber?
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

How did you secure the floats to the lumber? There's a spot in each corner and on each side in the center for lag screws. The lags I had were short so I improvised with a couple three inch deck screws. I framed it to fit the floats. Planned on 16" on center but then just decided to make life simple. Flipping the thing over was an exercise in redneck engineering....

Had a good supervisor on the job for awhile today. Always good to have Dad there. Glad I went with the Techstar ladder. Sturdy, nice wide steps and a nice angle out from the dock. They advertise it as good for dogs and old people. Good... I'm rapidly becoming both... Just have to move it out a few feet, anchor it and add the access ramp and it's good to go.

Looks great. I remember when you started and was interested in the steep terrace and mountains in the background. Really a nice looking place and deck. Bet you are proud.

More like blessed. I must have looked at a hundred properties. Never could find the right one or one I could afford. How I wound up with this one, all I know is, God helped me out. I had so many ideas of what I wanted to do if I ever had some land it feels great to finally be able to realize some of them. Many of those ideas were inspired by people I've known, especially when I was a kid. The upper pond, the Brookie pond, was inspired by Mr. Statler, my Dads boss when I was a kid. This pond came from Rev. Goodwin, our minister when I was little. The Rainbow pond from an accident Mr. Statler had with his pond. He put some rainbows in for the company party for the kids to fish for. Heavy rain washed out a side and the rainbows went downstream to the neighbors pond where they got huge. Now I'm trying that on purpose. I had a couple young adults up fishing last weekend. I told them to be careful about what they dream about... Because that's most likely where they'll wind up.

Stopped after work and dropped the two concrete anchors I poured yesterday, hooked up the chains, and added the ramp. Ready for R & R.

Hollywood... That's a beautiful setting especially to a flat-lander such as myself. Does the ladder somehow retract out of the water to avoid algae? It appears it may rotate somehow but I didn't see a rope or something connected to the bottom

It appears it may rotate somehow but I didn't see a rope or something connected to the bottom It does flip up to stand between the handrails. I plan to just leave it in and flip it up in September when swim season is done, though that may change if it gets too slimy. Just have to add a pull rope. It is pretty heavy duty, I'm happy with the construction and design of it. My dog is part fish, he will love it!

I am blessed too. God can work through us if we let him, just like you said. We do need to work at it though. I have not read a PB'er that does not mind doing work, Interesting I think.

I love it when the big equipment shows up. In addition to finishing off the orchard expansion the lower ponds got their finish grading and the road and pad to the new potting shed/greenhouse/hangout is ready. Shed will be here in the next two weeks or so. Took this last night, this is the northern half of the view from where it will sit. Going to be an awesome spot to sit and watch the wildlife.

Wood,
Great results for a job well done.
Love the view.
I think most of us here on PB share a common vision with slightly different backgrounds. Mine's in Texas, yours is in NY, and others are all around the globe. I'm just glad there are people who will take the time to enjoy their great gifts.
Nicely done.

Thanks Brian... We do seem to share a common bond. We're like nuts sprinkled all over the place!
