I was in the same boat as you. I stocked 1-2'' CB in our 2 acre pond and had no sign of them. So i stocked some more that were a little bigger 8-9''
I didnt like the feeling of not knowing whether we had any or not. Now, i see 2lb bass slam our perch at the feeder. They patrol the shoreline, ambushing prey. Unfortunately, theres no way to know "for sure" if you have any bass without electroshocking or physically catching one.
To me, it was easier to just stock a few larger ones to guarantee we had some bass.
