I actually have very good luck skimming my 150x200 ft pond. It takes an hour or so 3 times a week. A huge shortcut is to do it on a very windy day after all the algae has broken loose and is pushed up against one side of the pond. If I skim out what I can in big heavy scoops it looks really good a day later when things settle down.
