Often the disadvntage of surface runoff or Improper nutrient ratios (nitrogen to phosphorus) from haphazard fertilization, result in bluegreen algae blooms (surface, scummy films) instead of the beneficial green (Chlorophyta) algae mid-water suspension, blooms which feed zooplankton.
