Could you tell me approx when the bass spawn in the Northeast. (Quebec) Also whether is it easy to identify the "nest" when the water visability is only about 2 feet.

Bob,
Typically you can go by your regulations that don't allow smallmouth to be kept until June something. So apparently your ministry thinks that the fish will be protected and allowed to spawn until that date. However if you are speaking of a pond that warms up faster than the lakes they will spawn a little earlier.
If your spring has been as late as here in the northern U.S. they may be a little late this year.
As far as seeing them with a 2 foot clearity probably not. Smallmouth spawn in slightly deeper water.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
