Greg, Mr Cody and the rest of the regulars gotta question for ya.....

noticed recently that some of my LMB's are without the usual darker markings down the side? is this a sign of age or lack of age? or could it be something to do with the strain? also are some LMB's given a larger mouth? well endowed mouth? seems that there is a bit of a difference between some of mine in this area? when we get to the culling stage i would think this would make a big difference down the road.

I would not base alot of management pratices or prediction of strain on the lack or appearance of markings. I bet if you catch one put him in a hauling tank or just a big cooler if you have one you will see the markings come out. Usually more coloration when in shallow water and less color when in deep water. About the mouth size. The bass with bigger mouths than there bodies usually have lower RW's and are older. The same with if I see a nice healhty bass its mouth appears smaller. This is what I try to achieve. I again would not base your culling on this, stick to running the RW's for assistance with culling bass.
