A little different twist here. I agree with Bill but will add that it is critical that they have fun above all else early on. One of the biggest problems we face is the drop in the number of people wanting to engage in outdoor activities like fishing. If kids don't have fun they will not keep it up long enough to learn the things Bill noted as important.

IMO your plan will work. The death of a few LMB is not a factor IMO. In some cases I suggest stocking at a 35 LMB per acre in the south - depending. Easy to add a few LMB if needed later.
