Seems to me that if it wasn't for global warming, then we wouldn't have the unusually strong El Nino, and the recent history of more back to back El Ninos. And without the friendly El Ninos, the empty lakes and reservoirs on the west coast would not be filling up at record pace. Who could have predicted a huge lake going up 17 feet in 24 hours recently?
Seriously folks, you can argue day and night till the end of the world about short term observations that seem to show a 'trend', but the final answer is that there is a God, and only he controls the weather patterns. Science is the study of what He has made and what He has done.
He certainly allows us to interact and have an effect on our environment. We are called to care for our planet (and our ponds!) as we would care for our own body or our own family's health.. But weather patterns are for us to marvel at and be humbled by, but shame on us for having the hubris to think that we are actually the cause of a weather event or any future change in overall weather patterns.
