Mississippi State has great literature on crawfish. So does LSU.
Here's the crux...crawfish don't need depth, they like shallow. Crawfish feed on plant material. Crawfish farmers raise rice, crawfish eat rice plants, then the farmers add hay. Crawfish eat hay.
Crawfish are seasonal. A pond 25 x 25 will probably raise and support less than 25 pounds of crawfish.
If a crawfish farmer can raise 150-300 pounds per acre, he has had a good year. More than that, he'll throw a boil.
