I am quite sure my calendar is broken. It says this is December 22 and winter officially began yesterday. Forecast tomorrow at my place in Northern Illinois is 59 degrees and possible thunderstorms!

Bill, I hope that this mild winter lasts all season. I was tempted to bring some Flounder back to In last spring. I had found that they can tolerate 42 degrees but figured the warmest water through the winter would be 38 so I passed up the opportunity. I wouldn't be surprised if the water up there stays soft all winter that the Flounder might well have made it. I won't bring any next April cause if I do next winter will be terrible. Down here they are predicting 85 on Christmas and that is what the high was for July 25.

62-63 and storms here tomorrow. Previous high temp was 59, and the lows for the next week are predicted to be higher than the normal highs.
Local weather is saying that cold air (normal winter) will return the 2nd or 3rd week in January.
THEN because of the water temp in Lake Michigan, if we get any storms from the NW, we are going to get hammered with lake effect snow............

Scott. I never minded the snow but those single digits and less were awful. When your nose, toes and ears actually hurt, it's just too damned cold.

It's ok Bob. Stay warm down there. We'll let you know when it is safe to return to God's country. In the mean time, just put on that little pink speedo and head over to yer beach chair by the taco stand on the beach...no need to post selfies though!

NWS wasn't kidding when they said this may be an all time record El Nino year but I do remember a day when it got into the 70's on Christmas day in either the 70's or 80's. I wanted to take the boat out and go fishing but was forbidden. Those were the days when holidays were for staying home and being miserable. LOL
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

The first day of Winter, or the Winter Solstice, to me is the best part of winter, as from this day forward every day becomes just a little bit longer . I know many of you like and/or look forward to this time of year, but for me,,,, Spring is just around the corner As for today, I hope those of you in the path of the storms blanketing the Eastern half of the U.S. stay safe! PS - We're getting a lot of rain here, now turning to snow but it doesn't look like it's going to last, stick, or accumulate. So maybe I should start my Christmas shopping

I usually don't work outside when it is below 40. There are enough days here above 40 in the winter to wear me out.

Still haven't put in the winter aeration and don't plan to until just before normal temps are predicted! :-)
I'm actually hoping not to take any fish in at my taxidermy business from ice fishing so I can get caught up!

It's 74 in Dallas today. Last weekend I didn't see any dead tilapia at the pond. I wonder if some tilapia could make it until New Years day?

Mark, my money's on the 29th.
This flip flop weather is nice, but I mowed this week. It's weird seeing green Bermuda this close to the end of the year.

Our Missouri property was reported to me to have been struck by a tornado. So far they are calling F-2/F-3. No one injured. Took our steel covered ports and put them on the house. Along with bending the concrete basketball goals flat against the ground. Ponds seem to be ok. Found two dog houses floating out there in one. We don't have dog houses btw. Could of been worse.

Snakebite, I'm sorry to hear it hit you, but I guess it was good y'all weren't there.
Did the neighboring area also take a big hit?

Al, very blessed no one was injured. From what I'm gathering lots of trees down along with power. It may not have been on the ground long because the neighbors reported very minor damages. These are quite big property's so neighbors are half mile away in different directions.
