I am getting close to raising the lake to full pool, but before I do, I want to create some spawning beds.

I have a roadbed that will be sumbmerged about 3ft below the surface. Is this feasable for spawning?

The bank edges transition to a 5 ft minimum through-out the whole 1 1/2 acre pond.

I was planning on putting about a 20' x 10' 4" layer of pea gravel on top of the road bed with some cinder blocks to hold the pea gravel in place. Should it be continuous or should I make 3 or 4 smaller beds?

Does this sound good or should I change my depths?

Will the bass also use these beds?

Yes and Yes! IT sounds like a perfect place and plan for bluegill spawning and bass may use them also but sometimes prefer a slightly deeper area. I would not worry about the bass as much. The bluegill spawn every month so much more energy is used for spawning actviity and this plan will aid in that regard. I just had a client in N.C. put pea gravel out yesterday with cinder blocks to help keep it in place. Good luck, Greg

Excellent choice for spawning beds. Bass like water 4 to 6 feet deep, but you have created the perfect scenario for bluegill and small largemouth bass.
