Pond Boss Forums STOCKING A NEW POND Raising Forage and Bait BlackTail Shiners

Blacktail shiners belong to the minnow genus Cyprinella. They occur mostly in streams of south central US. These shiners are primarily stream dwellers, but I think they can thrive in a pond habitat with good water quality because some populations exist in lakes. This has yet to be proven. Blacktails can grow to 7" and get larger than most of the species in Cyprinella. I would really like to get some blacktail shiners to study and learn more about them.
