I don't know Bob. There must be exceptions as the well water I use to fill the holding pond is about as hard as it gets with high alkalinity too. Hardness as CaCO3 is 362 mg/l and Total Alkalinity as CaC03 is 343 mg/l.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
