Tony, you are correct in asking what the goals are for that particular pond.

Most of us here want fish and fish in the pond is the main focus. So, water quality, etc. all revolve around the fish.

Even after a year, if the pond DOES seal with the duck manure, and the ducks are removed, the nutrients in the pond will create a tremendous nutrient load, which will in turn cause a lot of plant and/or algae growth.
