Pond Boss Forums POND CONSTRUCTION Soil questions new issue same problem

The pond is drained, but there still is standing water over the leak area and it is not receeding, even in this hot weather. Which I believe indicates that the ledge is still open as I suspected. The soil is a thick soupy texture.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to thicken up this soil so it will plug the leaky ledge?

Will a trash pump get this junk out?

pump it out, or cut a channel to allow it to drain away from area.

on a jobsite once we used cobble sized rock and gravel to "harden" a soupy area so our equipment could get around on it. if pumping or draining doesnt work, you could rock or sand it then put the clay over.

The puddle (20X20) is in the lowest part of the pond. Draining is out of the question. I've been studing the water and noticed small rings developing on the surface every so often. They are at the outer edge, opposite of where I thought the ledge hole was. I think this is where the water is seeping in?
I've also been reading about dowsing for water and decided to try it. As I walked the rim of the pond the rods crossed at the spot just inline with the rings that formed on the remaining water.
Know that I think about it the early pictures of the first sign of water really puts the ledge where it is showing the rings.
I just picked up (10) 50lbs bag of bentonite, but I'm going to wait a week before In start spreading it, to see if the water receeds any.
Pond building is surely a waitng game.

I'm having some trouble finding a local source for heavy wet clay, to seal off the seeping ledge.
I located a place that has the dust from making granite rock into crushed stone for drainage . I was told they use it to seal leach fields of spetic systems. I have 500 lbs. of bentonite on hand, if I mix it together with the stone dust any chance of this working or should I keep looking for the wet heavy swamp clay?

I've been talking about my pond issues at work and one of my co-workers just happened to finish digging a pond. He tells me he has a large amount of wet heavy clay, some in manageable chunks. He is willing to let me have some, all I have to do is move it.
It's going to be alot of heavy hand lifting, but this is my best shot at sealing the ledge.
I plan on packing the wet clay on the legde and then pouring a mix of bentonite and botton soil on top for good measure wish me luck!
