Having a "sort of" problem fishing mine. About 1.5 acres; big deep bowl with with a 150 ft. long flooded brushy draw leading to it. All the fish stay around the brushy part. Bass seldom bite. I assume because of the huge numbers of fatheads and small bluegill, they are seldom hungry. So, we enjoy perch jerking. However, the catfish have gotten to the 2 to 3 lb. range in about a year and a half. Anytime a perch rig hits the water, the catfish move in and the bluegill move out. If a body of water won't support over 50 to 75 lbs. of predators per acre as stated in Raising Trophy Bass, I have the start of a problem. There should be about 75 to 100 catfish left. I know this sounds like a pretty good problem and I've had worse problems. I'm trying to clean out the catfish but they are getting pretty cautious.
