It is listed as 50-60 Hz so it is an AC motor. Unless the optional controller board is an inverter or something, which if it was they would surely give input specs for DC for it.
So I think the DC is a misprint.
Inverters have gotten pretty efficient and they have the advantage of starting and stopping loads as the DC battery voltage gets out of operating range. I'm definitely no solar expert, but I would seriously look at solar panel to a battery via a load/charge controller that could automatically start and stop the load according to battery voltage. Then use an AC compressor which are readily available.
A person would not have to use an exceptionally large battery if night time operation were not needed or wanted. Just a large enough battery to handle the charge rate and input from the automated charge controller. Then the off the shelf charge controller/load controller could do the rest of the work of starting and shutting down the compressor. No need for boosters or other things to make the DC compressor work and protect it under low voltage conditions.
Just my limited knowledge opinion, worth what you paid for it.
