You could do a shallow shelf around the edge before the steep drop for saftey. Plant some rushes or other marginal plants on the shelf before less desirable plants take over. My pond is to small for a floating dock so I can't speak to those-
One more thing about having a deeper pond would be you could add walleye! Nothing better that a Friday night perch and walleye fry!
