Does anyone know of a design for a siphon large enough to lower the water level in a pond in a reasonable amount of time?

While in the slow process of digging my 1.5a pond, I had to siphon it out many times. I used a 4" PVC pipe, and it usually took a day or 2. My pond's water was only 4 feet higher (4' head) than the gully into which I siphoned it. If your head is greater, it will siphon much faster.
