Oh my goodness...NO! We knew it might happen after seeing the tragic demise of that passive, sensible guy named Theo Gallus. Suddenly, alter-egos appear, manifesting themselves within this forum like bats in a belfry. They have destroyed Mr Gallus' innocence, creating splintered shards of crazy, goofy, and sometimes evil entities, all presenting themselves under the guise of Theo Gallus.
Now, a rock of stability and strength and our source of natural resource wisdom is being taken to task. In the name of all that is born of water and life, I implore you Ed...resist! Stare this evil from Crawford Nebraska straight in the eyes...and...just say NO.

It's gotta be Condello, trying to up the Ne. forum count.

Still haven't heard from Cecil. He's got a couple a doozies, I tell ya.

It's about time some of the other multiple personalities here came out in the open.

We know who we are.

If I were to post my stupid mistakes then all would know the facts about myself. Now I can keep them in the dark for just a little longer and they may think better of me, I realize it will leak out in time but I must wait.

Been out of town a couple of weeks but I gotta get in on this one. I do lots of stupid things! Back in high school I bought my first boat. Biggest boat I ever used, 14 foot with a 25 HP Johnson. Previous boat (my dads) was a 14 foot with 10 HP Johnson. I picked the boat up at the dealer after school and headed for the lake to try it out. The nearest lake had only a shallow sand boat launch with very gradual slope from the parking area all the way out to 50 yards off shore. I had fished this lake many times and was used to coming into the landing at full speed, cut the throttle at the correct point, lift the motor, and coast into shore. It's Friday night and while I was trying out the boat the local high school crowd was gathering at the landing with two pickups full of ice and beer kegs. On my way into the landing I did the usual, approach at full speed, cut the motor at the "correct" distance from shore, and coast in. However this time I misjudged the "correct" distance because I was probably doing 25mph instead of 10mph. I coasted right up onto shore, into the parking lot, and parked the boat right between the two pickups with beer kegs. I was accused of being really thirsty and desparate for a beer and the guys in the pickup beds thought I was so cool they fought to be the first to fill me a glass. It took about a dozen kids to help me lift the boat off the ground and place it on the trailer. The boat was about 100 feet out of the water but did nothing but scratch the bottom a little. I never let on that my stunt was not on purpose.

I have two nifty scars right between my eyes that remind me to take the loading rod out of the muzzleloader BEFORE attempting to fire it.

I once pulled an owl out of my chimney with a 20 ft. rope only to realize I forgot to put my gloves on. Did you know that you can "chicken wing" an owl, holding its wings back with two fingers and a thumb in it's back? Did you also know that it is true that owls can turn their heads 180 degrees? Finally, did you also know that owls do not like the aforementioned "chicken wing" maneuver?

Did you know that dried, dead bermuda grass is hard to light on fire on a windy day? Did you also know that once lit, dried, dead bermuda grass is very hard to extinguish on a windy day?

There has to be more that I can think of, but the repeated blows to the head I have sustained over my nearly 36 years is impairing my ability to recall them right now.

I once had a bad experience towing stone that shifted on me in a different trailer, and caused my van to go out of control as the trailer fish tailed. The van landed on it's side and I had to kick my way out of the windshield to get out. I was not hurt but it was a very educational experience on the dangers of hauling heavy loads!

I know a fish farmer that hauls a tank in the bed of a dual wheel truck. He had to stop abruptly once and it was all he could do to keep from getting crushed in the cab by the tank that was pushing it's way in.

I love the story of your rock load and dead van. Great story on the hauler that almost got a large enemia (never wrote that word before, so it may be mispelled).
Good point on the oxygen tank. I once saw an article that said a gas cylinder fell out of a pickup and knocked the head off, it went 200 feet up and then destroyed 2 parked cars after it came down. I see gas cylinders laying loose in a lot of the local farmer's pickups, tailgates open... I bet there is a law against that.

A couple of years ago I tried to dam the Salt Fork of the Arkansas River (without a 404 permit!) I just wanted to raise the water level a couple of inches so I could float a few duck decoys. Needless to say, all that happened was that I was really tired.

Sorry it didn't work out. Sounded like an worthwhile endeavor.

Decided to try out my transom mount 50lb thrust trolling motor in my very light boat. Speeds 1-4 weren't especially impessive. Stood up to get a better view while casting and clicked it up to #5, big difference big mistake in April.

Same boat different lake. Decided to step out of it without tying off. I have done it many times before but this time I dropped the rope. The boat started drifting away and without second guessing I jumped in, swam after it and retrieved it. The people fishing on the dock didn't even acknowledge anything had happened.

Using a farmers old forklift I began moving a stack of a dozen or so 180lb well greased grain bin sheets to a concrete pad for erection. Traveling down a slight incline I found the brakes didn't work. The incline increased along with my speed and the sheets bounced off and scattered in a single file line for about 80'. After gathering and dropping them on the concrete pad I began backing the lift up. The rear wheels dropped over the edge of the hill next to the pad and as I shifted into forward gear the lift began rolling backward, preventing gear engagement. About a second later I was traveling down a 45 degree slope at about 90MPH. I ended up about 70 yards out in the farmers bean field.

When I was in my early teens; I, and a couple of my friends who also had a misspent youth, tried to derail a train. Suffice it to say that the train continued along nicely and we lived through the experience. Got kinda interesting for a few moments.

Dave, how does one (attempt to) derail a train?

Dave, I'm not sure who ever told you that placing a penny on a railroad track would derail a train.......duh.

I'll bet he went all out and put down a nickel.

I don't know why this just came to me..
I was 13 and living on a naval air station at Point Mugu, Californa. A friend and I were riding our bikes along when we saw these twin engine fighter aircraft doing touch and goes. We decided that it would be way cool to lie on the grass at the beginning of the runway and watch as they landed, and it really was, loud, scary and you could see every rivet and streak of dirt. We did notice, but didn't pay a lot of attention to the first plane as it pulled up and then set down, then powered off. It was soemthing to see those twin afterburners kick in as the planes regained altitude. We waited awhile but guessed that we had seen the last plane and we left.I heard from my father later that we just missed the Shore Partol and the exercise was cancelled, that wasn't all I heard but that was the only thing that was germane. I guess that first pilot got quite a surprise going eyeball to eyeball with two kids lying face up at the beginning of his approach.
