1.5" is probably the average size, meaning some larger and some smaller? It sounds close to me, but hopefully someone who knows for certain will weigh in. If it were me, I would probably shoot for 1/4" mesh to begin with, at least for a few weeks. It may foul with algae fairly quickly, but at least I wouldn't lie awake wondering if my fish were still contained.
Appreciate the effort searching the archives....I realize that isn't always easy.
