Pond Boss Forums INTRO Questions & Observations Help With Brown Clouds????

I have these brown looking clouds of water that are all over the place, can you please tell me what it is? I filled a lot of the pond from my stream down below and fear I may have pumped something up. The water temp has risen into the 60's, the fish are active and eating like pigs, so I assume it hasn't harmed them.

We had a bunch of pollen and oak tree blossom all over the surface the last few weeks. All help is much appreciated.

Do you have fish fanning out spawning beds?

Could it be dead FA rising?

Yes

I don't know. The pond reached full pool in December.

If it is FA rising is that a problem I should address now?

Last couple of days I have brown/orange areas of water as well. I am wondering if it is some kind of algae bloom. Does not seem to be affecting the fish.

FWIW My FA floats up in little bunches maybe 2 to 3 inches in diameter. These "clouds" are totally different.

Edit: One thing that happened the day or two before the "clouds" showed up was we had a HUGE toad egg hatch. Solid black all the way round the pond. I have no idea if this is related or coincidence.

It is likely a bloom of some sort. Try to scoop some up in a jar and look with a magnifier for little dots swimming about. We get a ring of brown clouds around our pond in the fall. Somewhere in the past I put some of the cloud under a microscope and took a video. it should still be available, it may be the same thing. If so it will likely make great eating for fish fry!

Whatever mine is, it seems to be going away. Just a couple small isolated areas of the water discolored this morning near the shore.
