So I gotta plant some grass on my dam but there is no water source back there other than my pond.

Firstly, how important is it to provide irrigation to newly planted grass? I'd like to avoid the extra hassle if it's not needed.

But, if it's needed, what setup should i use to irrigate using the pond water?

I've never done anything like this before!

A guy that seeds grass told me - "Three main things make newly planted grass grow: water, water, water".

Griff one suggestion, you have 4-5 different threads all around the same type of issues. I would not start a new thread each time you have a question. All of your questions are related and should be in the same thread. It will help you maybe get more responses.

Also not trying to be to negative here but you need to do some research as many of these questions have all been answered in previous posts by others on this forum.

Try using the search function up in the menu button at the top.

One of the horticultural classes that I took was on establishing lawns from seed. They said that every time the grass seed dried out 50% of the seed that was germinating died.......

How important is water? Without it to keep the seed moist and to prevent it from drying out I wouldn't plant seed. The only way that I'd plant grass seed is if I knew that there was enough rain coming for the next 2-3 weeks that it would stay moist and not wash away, or frost seed it.

There's threads on here how forum members built solar powered irrigation systems to get the grass established in areas where there was no electric using pond water.

Are you planting "lawn grass" or pasture/prairie grass? Lawn grass is much more finicky, but irrigation is always a help.

I just read two days ago where Highflyer( I am pretty sure) had solar Battery set up that looked great and appeared very flexible. Maybe he or one of the monitors can get you a link to his post. He had pictures as well.
There is a search function on the site but I have only used it once I think and others would need to give you instructions on it use. Good luck.

Sorry for another post but maybe you can search for "Finally full pool" topic by Highflyer, and he does have some pics and a link in his posts.
