Wanted to pick a few brains about dealing with ponds that are continually fed with freshwater by a well. I have a few ponds that are constantly full of FA and underwater vegetation (slender spikerush, southern naiad, widgeongrass,bacopa, etc) . The ponds are continually renewed with freshwater, quickly washing out any herbicides, dye, etc., and replacing with nutrient-rich water, which in turn causes the pond to blow up. These ponds are generally small, <0.5 acre, shallow, and receive direct sunlight all day, which is enough to keep me busy To begin with!
Anybody run across similar situations and actually had success?

Are GC and Tilapia allowed in SC ? If so, I would think they would be helpful in your situation.

Yes to both. Except tilapia don't winter well here so we don't stock a whole lot of em and we typically only stock grass carp in the cooler months, so our stocking season is coming to a close. The's ponds just signed on with us, so they will most likely not be getting any fish at all til the fall at the earliest.

If it's well water, why is it nutrient rich?

Is the well water sampled regularly? I am on the same thought as esshup, do you know the point source for the well?

If it's well water, why is it nutrient rich? I just assumed that's why it is constantly blowing up since it is constantly being renewed with new water

Stocked annually.

It's never been sampled If a well, and not a spring, why not just turn it off to let the Herbicide have time to work?
