I have tons of willow trees sprouting all around the dam and banks of my pond. I understand that I need to get rid of the ones on the dam and I will. Is there any pond and fish safe way to keep them from re-growing, other than just repeatedly cutting them down?
Also, will it cause problems if I leave one or two willow trees growing on the front pond bank (far away from the dam?)

Anytime I cut down a tree that I don't want to re sprout I use Tordon on the stump. This is a product that you buy at a farm store.
I understand also that willow trees drink a lot of water from the pond but if you have adequate rain to keep your pond continually full I would not think it would be much of a problem to leave a couple of trees. Definitely not near the dam however.

Another vote for Tordon RTU.
I wouldn't let any grow as they will contribute to your problem.
