A muskrat is living in my pond. Should I consider him or her a threat to my dam or the cypress saplings I planted. THANKS

The dam - yes.
The cyprus saplings - don't know but I doubt it.
I believe muskrats only eat vegetation softer than trees; I know cattail removal is often linked to making ponds less desirable to muskrats.

It is very unlikely you have only one muskrat. They are social critters & prolific.
Muskrats won't hurt your trees.
As Theo says they do pose a threat to your dam with all their burrowing.
Also a tractor or mower falling into one of their dens along the waters edge is dangerous.
They are undesirables in our pond.
