ASMOF IMO there�s no way of knowing for certain.
A spring near the surface nearby does not necessarily mean a spring under the lake will be a positive. It�s actually just as likely to be a negative.
I would think for swimmers to feel flow under water it would have to be a heck of a spring & dredging should have uncovered it. Feeling cool water below the thermocline could possibly be mistaken for a spring.
