I would appreciate any input on how to most effectively apply pond dye. My main objective is to kill off the excessive baby pond week that my pond has established. My pond is located NW of Paris Texas (NE texas). My water clarity is phenominal - snorkeling quality. It is a new pond and only reached full last fall. I think there was not enough water to prevent baby pond weed from establishing and it has taken over my pond basically making it unfishable. It is 2 acres. I have obtained permit for Grass carp and they're going in very shortly, but i'm wanting to make a jump on clearing up the problem so that i can enjoy the pond this spring and summer.
I want to lower / eliminate the pond weed, then plan to fert to get a bloom and let the GC do their stuff.
Appreciate application input as well as specific product input?

I have only used one dye in my pond and it has worked quite well. Aqua Shade works for me. I use 1 gallon per acre and then 12 to 14 o.z. after that each month on the same day to help keep it fresh if needed. That's just me others I sure can chime in.
Be careful though that you don't kill off all your plants at one time and have a D.O. crash. If you have air in your pond that would help compensate for some of it. There are drawbacks to using dye as far as blooms go I won't get into that as I don't know specifics.
How may grass carp are you getting? It's always better to go a little less on the carp then to many. They are a pain to get out of the pond once they are in there. I have 5 in my 1 acre pond and they seem to do a fair job. I bet 10 or 12 in your pond would do well. Some folks will say you need 10 to 12 per acre but I think that a little overkill. That's just me though.
