Faith,

I had an e-mail from Chris last night. He said it sounds like you have a cool project and will be happy to help in anyway he can. His concern is he is not familar with the laws that may be in place to prevent moving seeds/saplings around the world.

Are you planting strictly from seed or do you have a source for bare root or potted seedlings?

Bill, i don't plan to ask any seeds from Chris smile . So , no worries. You can buy them online so easily. No problem at all.

I have to plant them from seed , because there is no way to get seedlings here.

Wow! All from seed is quite the project you have taken on. So many require special treatments. Like many oak trees require cold stratification of the acorns before they will germinate. Please keep us informed as the project progresses!

Bill, Scott and i have been working on this project for over a year now. And it might take another couple years. I haven't seen a private pond in my life(in Turkey). So this is going to be pretty amazing. I have to let you know about the progress anyways, because there is no other place to ask people these kind of questions smile .

Guys, couple tree photos from the Mediterranean side of Turkey. There are 3 species in the photos. That pine tree is very interesting. Love it. I wonder if you can identify them smile .

For some reason, I can not see the pics. Just the titles. Does anyone know why?

Not familiar with the first two pics. Pics 2 and 3 look like some sort of mimosa. Pics 3 and 4 look like black willow.

Tree #3 looks like a pepper tree from So. California.

Faith I am so sorry that you can't enjoy the trees like I have. When I pass I hope who ever owns them doesn't sell them for quick money.

The seedless cottonwood most likely wouldn't grow in your area. But it did surprise me just how fast it grew and not in a wet area. And I also wondered why we never hear of them here in the States.

The razor wire in the first picture adds a nice touch. LOL

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Fatih,
I am not much help. A saying I hear a lot is the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago and today. I have pecan trees If you water and fertilize them you will be getting pecans in 10-12 years. Where I live we have to water pecans the first 2-3 years then they will make it unless we have a drought, Like a lot of Texans We have lost a lot of old trees in Oklahoma the last few years due to drought, It sounds like you have a cool project and I enjoy reading about it.
Good luck
Dale

I think you might be interested in redwood (fast growth and drought tolerant) it's worth looking at.

Guys, i was off to town. Sorry for the delay.

Dudley, i guess you are right about Mimosa. For the other tree Esshup's guess was right i suppose smile . It must be a pepper tree.

So bad that we couldn't identify the first tree yet. This is one of the most beautiful Pine Tree species i have ever seen.

Dale, thanks. I enjoy reading you guys' posts too smile . I will definitely have some pecans smile . Ty.

Cray, are we talking about Coast Redwood? Because i think they are not very drought tolerant trees.

John, sorry i forgot to write you back.

I know that even if these trees are put down, there will be a good reason for that. Because you, people are very respectful to nature.

I guess i will stay away from Cottons anyways. Water sucking is not a good behavior smile :
