SO I received a good amount of rain and my pond is almost full. I have FHM and gambusia that have spawned. I'm waiting for spring to enter trout. The water is very turbid from the clay (less than 1" visibility). Will this be a problem for the fish? Do I need to clarify ASAP or can it wait until spring when I can plant grass around the edge for erosion?

Fatheads should be fine in muddy water.

Do a jar test and see if the turbid water clears up on its own.

Captwho, I'd think you should be planting grass around your pond regardless of when you want to stock. Any erosion is just flowing, uncompacted into your pond reducing your water volume with less depth, plus it is an easily disturbed silt that will muddy your water very easily with wind/wave action....or even with trout swimming fast, low in the water column.

Generally, it is suggested that grass seed be planted immediately after any dirt work is ceased in all disturbed areas.

I did plant but because of the cool weather I can't get anything to germinate any more. I will have to wait until spring to plant.
