Not sure if it would apply to the cages but I have a roll at my place and use it quite often on a multitude of projects.

It's easier to get the fish out of the cages if the mesh is on the inside of the framework rather than on the outside. Think of building the cage frame, making a "bag" with the mesh and putting it inside the framework.

Mine have internal frames and used black zip ties. I also use 2 "T's" on one side of the frame to be used as a hinge for the lid. Say 1" x 1/2" "T". Slip the 1" end over the frame, tie on the mesh. Make the lid from 1/2" PVC, and use deer netting or bird netting on the lid to keep out GBH, etc. Tie a rope to the lid top. Flip it completely open and let it flop in the pond to work inside the cage. Pull the rope and the lid flips back down.
