Iam new to pond management and need help. I live in Northeast Texas. We live on a small lake approx. 8 acres. As far as I know the lake has never been managed. No fertiltzation nothing. The FA problem reared its head last spring, and getting worse. The lake ranges from approx. 3ft to 17ft. I gathered a water sample and took a ph measurement, 7.2.
I quess my question is, do we try to contol the FA and then start a fertilization program , or fertilize and work on the FA?
Please, any advice will be welcome.

I would like to add that our lake is the third in a chain of four. The lakes above and the lake below show no signs of FA. I have not taken a secci(sp) reading, but a visiaul sems to be over three foot. The fish are in good shape, but few and far between.
I also did another test that showed 30ppm calcium carbonate. I don't know what that means, any help is great!
